XFL Championship
Eufaula, OK – The XFL-Extreme Fishing League presented by Skeeter Boats held it’s 2014 season ending championship on October 18 & 19 on sprawling, windswept Lake Eufaula. 123 teams were greeted with cloudy, cool, foggy, rainy and windy conditions for this event. Typically, these kind of conditions lead to good catches. However, Lake Eufaula proved one tough nut to crack for the field. The weeks leading up to this event were an omen in that it was only taking 25 lbs+/- to win two-day events. Despite the favorable “fish catching” conditions, Eufaula continued to be stingy with its fish. Only 22 two-day limits were weighed with only a total of 346 fish for the entire event. Many anglers were left scratching their heads wondering why fishing was so tough. However, as always one team figured out the tough bite and bested the entire field. Continue reading XFL Championship

Navionics Sonar Chart Event
Be sure to join us for our first Navionics Sonar Chart event on Saturday June 7th on Grand Lake. Navionics representative Tshombe Moore will be on hand on this day to train you on sonar recording, and ask you to participate in a Grand Lake contour recording event.
Simply come by the dock on Saturday June 7th at Wolf Creek, and Tshombe will give you a blank card and train you on recording sections of Grand Lake. Navionics will take the information recorded, and update the Grand Lake charts with the updated contours. No fishing spots will be recorded or used by Navionics, so feel open to join this event.
After the event, turn in your card, and we will enter your name into a drawing for two Navionics charts to be given away at weigh-in (you no not need to be present to win). It’s that simple, plus you get free training on how to use the recording feature of your units!
Navionics Sonar Event will run from 9am until 5pm, so run by the Wolf Creek dock, pick up a card and go pre-fish and get entered into the drawing all at the same time! For more information on Navionics, go to: http://www.navionics.com/en
Lake Eufaula, OK
Eufaula, OK – The XFL-Extreme Fishing League presented by Skeeter Boats held its 3rd even of the 2014 season on sprawling wind-swept Lake Eufaula. Thus far, 2014 has been a story of extreme weather conditions. It’s ranged from freezing fog, down-right raw-boned cold and never-ending winds. The days leading up to this event saw cold temperatures in the mornings and sunny, pleasant afternoons with light winds. Very nice conditions for pre-fishing. However, Mother Nature continued her cruel ways and greeted 171 teams with blustery 30 mph+ winds on Sunday, May 4th. The winds made for rough boat rides at take-off. Mother Nature then showed a little mercy on our poor souls and abated the winds to where it was somewhat tolerable in the afternoon. Despite the rough conditions the tournament yielded 438 fish, 67 limits and a 2.80 lb. avg. Total entry fees collected were $34,200, $55,015 was paid out for a 161% payout.

Lake Eufaula
Eufaula, Ok – The XFL-Extreme Fishing League presented by Skeeter Boats held its 2nd event of the 2014 season on Lake Eufaula on Sunday, April 6th. 181 teams were greeted with overcast skies, chilly weather and light rains later in the day. Despite the dreary conditions Lake Eufaula showed its quality in the form of 76 5 fish limits brought to the scales. A total of 525 fish were weighed with the average fish being a healthy 3.11 lbs. A total of $36,200 was collected in entry fees and $58,145 was paid out for a 158% payback percentage. Thanks to premier sponsors Brad’s Boat Sales, Nichols Marine- McAlester and H&H Marine for providing such a great payout. In one of the narrowest margins of victory the team of Rob Wadley and Vance Montgomery brought in a limit weighing 23.77 lbs to take home the top cash prize of $20,000. In addition to the 1st place payout, they took home the $5,000 Skeeter Customer Appreciation Bonus, $500 Keystone Chevrolet Customer Appreciation Bonus, $150 Boat US Angler Bonus and the $125 Navionics Bonus for a grand total of $25,775. Coming in a very (and I do mean VERY) close 2nd place with a limit weighing 23.66 lbs was the team of Brandon Mosley and Brad Lankford. Their efforts netted them $10,000. Big Bass of 7.12 lbs and worth $1,000 was weighed in by the team of Anthony Spears and Chris Davis. Congratulations to these teams and all the other teams that cashed checks in this event. In the past I have always had the pleasure of interviewing the winners of the tournament to get some insight on how they prepared for the tournament, how their day transpired and what lures, patterns, etc. they utilized. This time I get to interview myself which seems kind of strange. So, I decided to stick with the format I have established with the past winners. Continue reading Lake Eufaula
