Lake Eufaula – June 2, 2013

June 2, 2013, Eufaula, OK. –  The XFL-Extreme Fishing League presented by Skeeter Boats held it’s 4th and final regular season event on Lake Eufaula. The week prior to this event saw the lake falling and subsequently stabilizing around 2.5′ above normal pool.  The lake was setting up for a shallow water slugfest as big fish had moved into the shallow cover to gorge on spawning shad. However, Mother Nature decided she wouldn’t allow that to happen by sending  violent, tornadic storms with torrential rains through the Lake Eufaula watershed.  The resulting flash floods caused the lake to rise almost 2.5′ on Saturday before the tournament.  Continue reading Lake Eufaula – June 2, 2013

GRAND LAKE – MAY 5, 2013

Grove, OK – The XFL-Extreme Fishing League sponsored by Skeeter Boats held its third event of the 2013 season on Grand Lake out of Wolf Creek in Grove, OK.  Old Man Winter continues to be a stubborn old fart by continuing his icy grip on the state of Oklahoma. On Thursday prior to this event, Old Man Winter came down upon us once again in the form of a brutal cold front.  Temperatures went from a balmy, almost summer-like, high 80’s to lows in the upper 30’s and highs in the mid 50’s by tournament day.  Continue reading GRAND LAKE – MAY 5, 2013

Eufaula Lake, April 7, 2013

Eufaula, OK – The XFL – Extreme Fishing League presented by Skeeter Boats held its second event on sprawling, wind-swept Lake Eufaula on Sunday April 7, 2013.  194 teams entered this event making this the largest draw at Lake Eufaula in over 5 years! The anglers were greeted with decent weather conditions, albeit a bit windy at times, and a lake that had risen almost 3′ in the previous week due to heavy rains and a strong cold front that moved through the area.  The rising water and cold rains which cooled the water temperatures significantly threw the anglers a curve ball.  Many anglers that reported great catches in the week leading up to this event indicated the changing conditions made for very tough fishing.  The tough conditions were evidenced by only 88 (49 limits) teams bringing any fish to the scales.  Continue reading Eufaula Lake, April 7, 2013

Eufaula April 7th Peter’s Point

Our next event will be this Sunday April 7th at Eufaula. This will also be a Skeeter Demo event, so if you want to get into the drawing for the $1000 bonus money, stop by Peter’s Point (Nichol’s Point) between the hours of 9am and 5pm on Saturday the 6th and take a ride in a 2013 Skeeter boat powered by the Yamaha SHO 250 four stroke.

Again a reminder that we are moving our Eufaula weigh-in’s to Peter’s Point this year. We will be doing boat check at both ramps (Peter’s Point and Eufaula Cove) and on the water. If you have not picked up your team ID card yet, you may do so on Saturday or Sunday morning at Peter’s Point.

We will be on site from 9am until 6pm Saturday taking entries…hope to see you all there!

GRAND LAKE, MARCH 10, 2013

Grove, OK – Hello fellow fishermen, Capt. Rob here.  I want to apologize for my tardiness in getting this report out.  I’ve had a string of bad luck that began on Saturday before the tournament.  Apparently, I set my cell phone on the bumper of my truck Saturday morning and in my haste to do some pre-fishing I forgot about it.  So, if anyone finds an IPhone in a camo case along the road between Adair and Langley they can just keep it.  Secondly, after getting on what we thought was a solid pattern on Saturday we only managed two keepers and opted not to weigh-in. As if that wasn’t enough,  while I was trying to get my replacement phone activated my internet service went out at my house and it took 2 days to get it restored.  The only thing I can say is that it can only get better.  So, enough of my tales of woe. Here is the account of the 2013 Extreme Fishing League presented by Skeeter Boats first tournament of the season held on Grand Lake in Grove, OK.

Wolf Creek Off limits Area Explained

We have been getting a few calls about the off limits for Sunday’s event:

For this weekend, the back of Wolf Creek will be off limits. We will place flagging tape on both sides of the creek to mark the off limits area. Do not cross the imaginary line while fishing, with your boat, or with your bait.

In the future (not this weekend) the GRDA will have buoys in place that say “No Tournament Fishing”. Due to the GRDA being tied up with an ongoing search for a body, those buoys are not yet in place.

This will be our first time using the new Wolf Creek facility, so wake up Sunday morning, say a prayer that we don’t screw anything up, and show up to have fun!

Grand Lake Discounts

Be sure while you are in Grove this weekend to support the local store owners. Stonebrook Inn is offering all XFL members a discount on their room rate if you mention XFL when you make your reservations. Also, the Rib Crib in Grove is offering all XFL members a 10% discount on your food order this weekend, simply by telling your waitress that you are a XFL member and fishing our tournament. We will continue to search for these local discounts, and bring them to you as we find them. In the mean time, support these local vendors, they are part of the reason that we anglers were able to get a new tournament facility built on Grand Lake.
