XFL – Extreme Fishing League

Eufaula, OK – Hello fellow fishermen and welcome to another installment of the XFL-Extreme Fishing League.  With the first tournament of the North Division on the Arkansas River drawing only about 100 boats, I was beginning to wonder if that was an indicator of things to come.  Thankfully, I was wrong and 173 teams entered the 1st event of the South Division.  It was good to see many familiar faces, but even more encouraging, was seeing many new faces.  For those of you reading this who are first timers to the XFL, we welcome you.  If you ever run into me on the water, at the boat ramp, etc. and have any questions or anything please don’t hesitate to ask.  I will be more than happy to help you out other than tell you where I’m catching my fish! HAHA! For those who have fished XFL in the past, welcome back. We are glad to see you again.

The first event in the XFL South division this Sunday at Eufaula. We will be set up at Peter’s Point on Saturday from noon until 6 PM taking entries. You can still enter online or drop off entries to Blackbeard in Tulsa.

We will be doing a single file take off from the dock at Peter’s Point (boat check will not be done at the ramps or pontoon boat). After you launch your boat, stage in the back of the creek and wait for safe light. You will come by the dock with your running lights on, live well lids open, and live wells running. You will then idle out to the no wake buoy at the mouth of the creek before putting your boat on pad.

Boat check-in, in the afternoon will be at the mouth of the creek in the afternoon…Look for the boat with the flag on the back deck.

TRAILERING TO AND BACK (ONE IN, ONE OUT): You can only launch once…you cannot move by land once launched, except to return to weigh-in.

Due to the forecasted winds on Sunday, the tournament will be a trailering event. Trailering rules will be posted by tonight…it will be your responsibility to know, and abide by the trailering rules. More details later today.

The weather forecast for Sunday is calling for high winds, beginning at midnight Saturday through out the entire day on Sunday. We will make a decision by tomorrow (Friday) as to what route we will take for this event.

The opener for the Northern division is quickly approaching! We will be launching out of Three Forks Harbor for this event. As always, if you are planning on locking through (either direction), be sure to call the lock master and find out their locking schedule so that you have no conflicts. Reminder: follow the rules of the lock master, and the process will go a lot smoother.

The 2018 entry form is now listed under the tournament tab on the front page of the web site. This is a editable PDF form that you can fill out prior to printing. Using this feature will help us record your information correctly, as we have a hard time reading some of your writing! If you do not remember your TEAM number, be sure to look it up instead of leaving it blank. If you are fishing with someone different this year and you were the TEAM captain last year, simply use your TEAM number from last year. If both of you are fishing with someone different, the partner from last year will require a new TEAM number (which we will assign). Team ID Lookup

As always, you can enter by mail, at Blackbeard in Tulsa, and online through our website via PayPal.

As we said last week, we forgot to take in to account a Costa date when we chose our date. We have decided to change our date to;

September 29-30th
Eufaula

The web site will be updated to show all of the 2018 dates and lakes.

When we were selecting dates, we forgot about the FLW Costa Southwestern events. It looks like the Costa Gibson event is the same as the date we chose for our championship. We are looking into it now, and may need to make a date change.

We are still waiting on permits, but here is the tentative schedule:

North – Three Forks Ark River March 11th
North – Wolf Creek Grand April 22nd
North – Taylors Gibson July 8th

South – Peters Point Eufaula April 8th
South – Three Forks Ark River May 6th
South – Catfish Bay Texoma June 24th

Champ – Peter’s Point Eufaula September 29-30
